"The painting for this print was inspired by an
especially brilliant display of fall foliage on the Long Prairie River. A late afternoon sun in
October really lit a fire in the reds. I came back to this spot for several years after I had done
this painting, but it never was as brilliant again. Someone has since cut down the beautiful tree
with all the red leaves. I particularly like the contrast between the bare tree branches on the left
with the full rich reds on the right side."
