"This painting was produced from a sketch I
made at a little lake near my home. The lake doesn't show in the picture, but the mistiness of the
morning was influenced by it. The mist also seemed to diffuse the warm color so that the whole scene
took on a warm coppery glow. The soft background helps to provide a nice stage for the birch clump
and the foreground log and stump. The day I painted it was my Mother's birthday so I titled it in
her honor as she loved quiet little spots in which to think."
