"This little painting, which is reproduced actual
size, depicts the wood violet at its peak in May. This dainty little flower is not as noticeable as
many spring flowers so its beauty is best enjoyed at close range. I painted them with just a
suggestion of background so they would have the stage to themselves.
Since blue-violet is a favorite color of my wife, Gwen, I painted it for her as a Mother's Day gift."
