Moonlight Cruise

"The inspiration for this painting was a pontoon
boat ride on our lake. The full moon rises at sunset so the eastern sky usually has some color as did
the clouds on this evening. It also happened to be the 38th wedding anniversary of a neighbor couple,
so we invited them to watch the moonrise from the lake. We chose a vantage point west of the lake's
only island so we could watch the moon rise over it. As we were enjoying this wonderful evening scene
a pair of loons swam by. So the title moonlight cruise has a double meaning for us."
