"This small scene is printed the actual size of
the original painting. I did the painting after a winter trip through the Lake Itasca area. The
painting is really a blend of fact and fantasy as the lake, which barely shows between the trees, and
the cabin are not in the same spot. Here again I was after the essence of the North Country on a
cold January night when the air is so crisp it practically crackles. The moonlight is so intense it
almost seems like daylight. Smoke rising straight up through the snow laden pines tells us it is
very still and cold outside the snug little cabin."
