"This painting was created to be the cover for
our perpetual calendar, hence the narrow vertical shape. It depicts a bit of the east shore of Crane
Island in Gull Lake near Brainerd, Minnesota. It lies in Wilson Bay west of Madden's Resort.
The
season was late summer when the marsh milkweek shows off its magenta blooms amid some golden sow
thistle. The rippled reflections and underwater rocks complimented an interesting subject."
