Autumn in the Air

"The main actors in this scene are the milk weed plants sending their seeds adrift in the late fall breeze. The pods have an amazing amount of the reddish brown seeds packed into them. When they split open, the fine filamented fuzz on the one end spreads like a parachute and is ready to travel on the wind. The milkweed plants seem to thrive in old fence rows where they are fairly safe from the farmer's machinery so I've shown them with an old weathered post and a bit of barbed wire being reclaimed by nature. Some rosehips and the glow still left in some late October foliage help to complete the scene."
